Toddler to School: From 3 to 6 years old

3-6-brain.jpgDoctors have used Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scans to measure how the healthy brain changes and grows throughout childhood and well into early adolescence. Repeated brain scans of healthy children over a 4 year period have shown that the area of the brain that helps learn new behaviors and organize new skills underwent the most rapid growth in children ages 3 to 6. Researchers say this shows how important it is to stimulate children at these ages, to play new games with them to encourage complex thinking.
