Pregnancy and Infant Support
Aboriginal Infant Development Program (AIDP)
Program focuses on the child as a whole, to include health, intellectual, emotional, physical and spiritual wellbeing.
The program is culturally safe whether the family lives on or off reserve and offers support for aboriginal families and infants who are at risk or have developmental delay. Our voluntary family center is for children birth-5 years of age supports families by providing home visits, activity planning, developmental assessments and recognizes the role of elders and extended family in parenting.
Also provides referrals to other health and social services as needed.
Adoption Centre
Provides confidential, supportive services to birth parents and adoptive parents; includes home studies/updates; educational component, information on available options in the adoption process; domestic and inter-country adoptions
Baby Talk
Various health topics ranging from nutritional requirements to infant massage to safety and childhood illness. Parents can socialize with other parents while gaining information and resources. There are a series of topics that rotate approximately every three months.
Breastfeeding Center
Public Health Nurses with specialized training in breast feeding counseling are available to assist breastfeeding mothers with any difficulties they experiences
Bridge Youth and Family Services (The)- Special Deliveries
Special Deliveries is a weekly prenatal program that offers:
* a nutritious lunch
* prenatal vitamins (at no cost)
* food certificates to enhance healthy eating
* information on healthy eating during pregnancy
* information on breastfeeding
The program recieves once a month visits from both a Public Health Nurse and a Community Nutritionist to discuss topics of interest.
Infant Development Program
Provides support primarily in the home, to parents of infants from 0-3 years that are developmentally delayed, or at risk of delay.
Johnson-Bentley Memorial Aquatic Centre - Birth Easy Yoga
This class taught by a Doula instructor, will provide you with
prenatal information from the first trimester through to the birth.
Discover the wonders of your new baby while preparing for a
joyous labor and delivery.

Meet friendly local moms to talk about your kids and have fun! Come to a Moms Meetup to share experiences, find advice, give support and make new friends. All moms are welcome!

Okanagan College Prenatal Education
Gain practical skills important to a health pregnancy, a
positive childbirth experience and early care of the new
baby. The childbirth education program includes valuable
information on: labour and delivery; interventions; hospital
tour; post-partum; life with new baby. It is recommended that
you complete the program approximately one month prior to
delivery.
Okanagan College Prenatal Education - Complete Series
The objective of our Prenatal program is to enable the mother-to-be and her partner to acquire the essential knowledge supportive of a healthy pregnancy, as well as the practical skills so important to a positive childbirth experience, and early care
of the new baby. Our childbirth educators work in partnerships
with the client, health professionals and the community. As soon as pregnancy is confirmed, we encourage expectant parents to enroll in the appropriate prenatal program. Please
call the Continuing Studies office for more information.

Topics covered include labour and delivery, interventions and
complications, postpartum for mother and baby, breastfeeding

Parkinson Receration Centre - Belly Dancing for Pregnancy
Come and join the fun! specialized prenatal belly dance can help you accept
and enjoy your changing shape and teach you how to carry yourself
and your baby with confidence and dignity. You will strengthen muscles
used in the birthing process and learn how to move your pelvis. This low
impact activity, with its emphasis on muscle control will facilitate natural
childbirth. Belly dance tones and strengthens the trunk and pelvic
muscles, as well as the low back muscles, which will help to counteract
the swayback tendencies of carrying a child. This fun and relaxing dance
is based on movements that come naturally to the female form and that
work with the body, not against it. Improve your balance and gracefulness,
while harmoniously interacting with your baby. Instill a sense of joy
and celebration into the prenatal and birthing process. Certain conditions
of pregnancy may be contra-indicated.
Parkinson Receration Centre - Pre-Natal Yoga
Pregnancy is an amazing journey! Nurture yourself and your growing baby
during this special time. Enjoy a holistic Hatha Yoga program specially designed
to promote a healthy, happy, comfortable pregnancy and confidence
for birth. Learn poses for stretching and strengthening, tone the pelvic floor,
practice breathing techniques and ease tension with deep relaxation. Meet
other Moms-to-be. No previous yoga experience necessary. Beneficial for
all stages of pregnancy. Bring two pillows, a blanket and yoga strap or scarf.
Leslie Crowe is a Certified Prenatal Yoga Teacher and Doula.
Postpartum Support Group
Loosely structured support group for new moms. Covers topics such as anxiety, discouragement, anger and depression.
Pregnancy & Babies Resource Centre
In response to the growing need for an online information resource that is evidence-based, trustworthy, and current, the SickKids Obstetrics/Gynecology Team and the AboutKidsHealth team of health professionals, medical writers, illustrators, animators, and designers have developed the new Pregnancy & Babies Resource Centre at http://www.aboutkidshealth.ca/pregnancy. The Pregnancy & Babies Resource Centre has been organized to follow the natural course of pregnancy and baby development, from preconception, through pregnancy and birth, until the baby’s first birthday. The material in this Resource Centre has been written in collaboration with obstetricians, embryologists, paediatricians, psychologists, dietitians, lactation consultants, and nurse practitioners affiliated with The Hospital for Sick Children.
Prenatal Breastfeeding Class
A how to breast feeding class for pregnant women and their support person. Discuss advantages, basics, and challenges of breastfeeding. Participants encouraged to bring life sized baby doll to practice positioning with. Taught by International Board Certified Lactation Consultants or Certified breastfeeding counselors
Prenatal Wellness Program - Rutland
Give you and your baby the best start to your new lives together by joining the Prenatal Wellness Program as early in pregnancy as possible. You will learn about prenatal fitness, prenatal nutritional needs, and the key factors to staying healthy throughout your entire pregnancy. Take this program before your “labor & delivery” class. Prenatal Wellness is endorsed by Interior Health and offered in partnership with the Kelowna Family Y and the Bridge; Youth and Family Services.

Prenatal Wellness is endorsed by Interior Health and offered in partnership with the Kelowna Family Y and the Bridge; Youth and Family Services. Westside space is donated by Westbank First Nations.
Prenatal Wellness is a 6 week, 15 hour program typically offered on a Saturday morning.

Young Parents Prenatal Classes
