(3-5 years) This class is for children with some experience and some
confidence on the ice. Enjoy playing fun games like ice bowling

and basic stops and starts. Skates are available for those that need

Penguin, Salamander, Sunfish,
Crocodile, Whale & Blue Dolphin are for 3 to 5 year olds. Preschoolers actively learn new swimming skills, the use of PFDs (lifejackets), submersion skills, breath control, shallow water movement, front floats, back floats and glides with assistance and on their own., Sunfish: Preschoolers learn to do back floats, glides on their own, glides with kick and stroke progressions, and learn about water safety and PFDs. Entries and assisted floats in deep water are introduced.
Penguin: A NEW OPTIONAL Level created for Preschoolers who are fearful
of water or of leaving Mom & Dad. This class is a gentler approach
for first time swimmers. Focuses will be on learning to blow
bubbles, assisted floats & glides. Parents are welcome to join until
children are comfortable with the instructor.
Salamander: Preschoolers learn the use of lifejackets, submersion skills, breath
control, shallow water movement, front floats/back floats and
glides on their own and with assistance.
Sunfish: Preschoolers learn to do back floats, glides on their own, glides
with kick & stroke progressions, & learn about water safety & PFDs.
Entries & assisted floats in deep water are introduced.
Crocodile: Preschoolers learn basic water safety, the use of buoyant objects, how to use PFDs for support, assisted side glides and deep-water activities. Dolphin kicks are introduced. Endurance is built through
increasing distances for front and back swims.
Whale: Preschoolers develop front crawl skills, unassisted side glide with kick, back glide with kick, and a basic dive. Increased distances and improvements on skill techniques make this a very challenging level.

A full-service, award-winning dance school located adjacent to the Boys & Girls Club in Winfield (Lake Country). The studio is part of the former Winfield Elementary School, at the corner of Hwy 97 and Berry Road, just a half-block from the bus stop.
We have several pre-school classes, which combine early dance movement and gymnastics; plus ballet, jazz, tap and aerial classes for 5 & 6 year-olds. As well as quality dance instruction, our studio focuses on fun, exercise, and child development --- among our students are those with hearing challenges and autism.
Lake Country School of Dance produces two shows per year. In December, The Grinch is presented as a gift to the community; and the year end production takes place in either late May or early June.

Making Connections
Once a week parents and children gather together for a fun learning experience which includes a half hour music class for 0-5 year olds and their parent(s) followed by a parent only discussion group to be enjoyed while children are supervised in an adjoining room. Although the venue is donated by First United Church, the program is not religious based.
An interactive music program is led by a certified Early Childhood Music Specialists. Parents and children share a special bonding time together through fingerplays, rhymes, songs, and playing instruments. Through music, children: increase gross and fine motor skills, enhance speech and vocabulary, experience a sense of belonging, learn to contribute to a group and listen to others, build confidence in themselves. Childminding after music class includes supervised playtime, a snack, story time, and a craft.
Parent group discussions are on a variety of topics such as parenting challenges and include videos and discussions facilitated by members of the group. Guest speakers are also brought in such as community nutritionist on infant and toddler nutrition, public health nurse on child health related topics, ICBC child car seat safety, dental hygiene for young children, etc...

Family Drop In is on every Saturday evening. Due to popular demand, this program is here to stay! Come, join us for this "open" gym experience. Let us take care of your children while you take care of your health.
Join a fitness class, go for a workout, swim or join your other child in
a parent-participation program with confidence that childminding is
providing a loving, safe and fun atmosphere. Each visit will provide
opportunities for social interaction and playdough or simple crafts for
the older children ‘Free wheeling fun’ in the Kids Gym adds to the excitement.
Visits to the gym will vary depending upon age and number
of children. Maximum visit time in childminding is 1 hr and 20 min
and is based on a first-come-first-served basis. Open to children 6 mos.
- 5 yrs. with room for 8 children (including space for up to 2 infants).
The fee for this program is drop-in fee $4.00, 5 tickets is $15.00,

form of dance. It’s a high energy class designed to teach children the

The Red Cross’ Preschool Program is designed for infants and
toddlers who are accompanied in the water each week by one
parent or adult caregiver. Our goal is for all participants to have fun
and to learn introductory swimming skills through structured play,
songs and activities. Parents/caregivers will learn how to keep their
children safe in, on and around water. Children move through the
first three levels based on age and the next five levels based on skill
and ability. Participants must be 6 months old by the first class,
have the ability to hold their heads up independently by the first
class and wear a snug fitting swim pant under a proper bathing
suit. Swim pants are available for purchase at our Reception Desk;

everyone develops swim skills at different rates and you can be

Rotary Centre for the Arts - Happy Harmonies for Babies
Babies and caregivers enjoy 45 minutes of bonding and fun with music. Finger plays, bouncing games, simple songs, movement, and percussion instruments are used for the enjoyment of babies in a small group setting. The final 15 minutes are set aside for free play and discussion time.
This course is being offered in cooperation with the Kelowna Community Music School. Cost is $15
Rotary Centre for the Arts - Magic Carpet Theatre
Come and fly on the magic carpet and see where your imagination takes you. A fun interactive class for children which will include costume drama, creative movement, improvisation, story book drama, play building and more. Cost is $50
Rotary Centre for the Arts - Music and Movement for Kids
Children come independently to these fun-filled 45 minute classes. Speech, singing, drama, games and percussion instruments are used to teach basic musical concepts in a small group setting. Rhythmic notation, solfège (do, re, mi), tempo, dynamics and timbre are all introduced in a fun, supportive setting. Cost is $15
Rotary Centre for the Arts - Music and Movement for Toddlers
These 45-minute classes consist of movement, finger plays, rhymes, bouncing games and the use of simple percussion instruments. Parents and tots share a special bonding time while intuitively learning the basic elements of music. The last 15 minutes of every class is set-aside for tots to play with toys, while adults have an opportunity to visit & to share learning. Cost is $15
Rotary Centre for the Arts - Storybook Theatre
Storybook Theatre for parents and tots.
Tell a story, act it out! Children participate by singing, moving, laughing, clapping, and creating their storybook characters.
Drop-in fee is $4.00 per Wednesday session. Fee includes admission for one adult and up to two children.

StrongStart Early Learning Centres
StrongStart is a free drop-in preschool program for children aged 2-5 and their parents, grandparents, or careproviders. Programming is primarily focused on 3-5 year old pre-school children. Siblings are welcome to join.
When you join us you may:

• enjoy a cup of coffee
• access parenting information and support
• find out more about resources in your community
The program is led by an Early Childhood Educator and supported by a Parenting Support Facilitator.
Program open on all days school is in session. Maximum 19 children per session, first come, first serve.
