Ages and Stages Universal Questionnaire Project

The universal screening project was identified as a community need by Community Action Towards Children’s Health (CATCH) strategic planning. Three of the planning themes that demonstrated this need was:
  1. Support for the development of strong families
  2. Community wide access to early childhood development information
  3. Strengthening community connections
CATCH facilitated a dialogue with community service providers in August 2012 and held a follow up meeting in September 2012. During these community meetings it became evident that there were gaps in services, identifying children’s needs in the community, and addressing quality and programming needs in the child care community.
The Community Ages and Stages (ASQ) Steering Committee was formed in response to these needs. The committee has members from the Central Okanagan Child Development Association, Okanagan College: Early Childhood Education Department, Interior Health, Okanagan Nation Alliance, Early Childhood Educators of BC‐Okanagan Branch, Ministry of Children and Family
Development, and the Kelowna Child Care Society.
Funding support was received in November 2014 from Success by 6 and CATCH to provide Ages and Stages Community training in 2014.
